Although Leatherman started the pliers-based multitool genre, Victorinox, SOG, and Gerber all make great multi-tools for EDC too. There are key elements that set them apart from each other, and those differences are worth considering when picking the right tool for you.

The Swiss Tool is the most comfy to use. It’s almost like ur not even holding metal at all. It’s so soft.
Very good presentation …
I own both a Gerber Suspension and a SOG Poweraccess Deluxe, but I am pretty underwhelmed
by both of them .
Now I think I ‘ll try the Leatherman Surge + Set .
One hand opened pliers my favorite 10 years using my gerber every day
I watched a guy ruin his Gerber wire cutter from just cutting a standard coat hanger…I cut it repeatedly with my Leatherman with no problems… Gerber told him that was considered abuse of the tool…sooo guess which one you should buy
I prefer the Leatherman. Mainly due to the wire cutters being replaceable (which the vast majority of people don’t have to care about for their lifetime.)
Otherwise, the Victorinox are incredible.
What brand has the best warranty
10 years in the US Navy. Attached to 3 ships. Multiple deployments. Leatherman was the only multi-tool sold in the ships stores. NEVER went anywhere when we were haze grey and underway without my Leatherman on my hip. Used it probably hourly for different tasks. Bought it in 1991. I still use it to this day. My brother was US Army and a Gerber guy. But for my money the Leatherman is….well.. THE Man!
Leatherman > everything else
I rotate about 10 multi-tools daily for years, and it turns out that the most grabbed is … LM Rebar🎯
Just prefer its compact shape and simplicity.
I broke the jaw of my SOG they replaced it cc with a new one texas
Those victorinox would be literally perfect if they included the victrinox scale tools (tweezers – toothpick – mini pen) perfect i tell you
Gerber mp600 scout pro for work, leatherman skeltool cx for everywhere else. Love both
Super presentation of some of the options out there 👍I had always carried a Swiss Army Knife but graduated to my first Leatherman (crunch) a few years ago. Sadly it has turned into an addiction……. Last time I looked, it was at 11 😱
I love my Dual Force. I only use the pliers and screwdriver from it but that’s all I need.
Excellent video as always but please loose the music … I want to hear you talk not listen to music competing with you.
I’ve used the Leatherman MUT for over 10 years at work, great for clearing stoppages in anger on an LMT Defender… (It happens when your bosses buy sh*t cheap training ammo…)
But as much as I love my old weathered MUT, I’m very tempted by the new Arc…
I love Leatherman, but I have to admit their Quality of steel recently is GARBAGE 🗑. I had older Leatherman tools with USA stamp on IT, and thay was good, now they don’t have this anymore and quality is Suck. That’s why I am on YouTube looking for alternative. I Considering getting Victorinox, thay never disappoint in their Steel Quality. Leatherman got griddy with their 200 million a year and closed eyes on quality in order to make more money. I have Charge TTI, Surge , Signal , Wave +. And they all Garbage compare to older models.
I perfer SOG & Gerber.
This Fella definitely knows what he talk about. Very polite, and i like the fact that he is not trashing product over other product. Very professional. Subscribed. Thank you Man. I will go with Victorinox, Leatherman is only disappointing me lately with theirs Garbage steel Quality.
Brilliant video
sog for me.
The Leatherman Supertool 300 would have crushed all these tools!
I would love to see the OHT from Leatherman
I had no clue Victorinox was in on this. I will continue more searches on this. I was looking for videos on multi tools and this is the first to mention Victorinox
The free series simply blow away the competition for ease of use and smooth operation ! Makes the rest look pretty Stone Age ! The ARC takes it up another level with its toolset and that Magnacut blade.
Does the gerber Mp600 Come in like a rough black finish instead of a matt one trayinng to see if i got a fake
I just want the old models back…
To much rubbish added to the latest models that causes problems..
I was looking at the Victornox but then noticed its rivited together..
I want to be able to fix and clean my multi tool by taking it apart with ease..
Not having to drill out rivits like with a Swiss army knife..
The older ones only had the tools mostly needed to no other tools to get in the way..
Not complex mechanism to jam like now..
No extra cool factor…
No covers That need to be removed before use becsue you don’t want a tiny amount of discomfort using it…
Just the form factor you like with the exact tools you want..
Once You Have A Victorinox Spirit For A Week,
you will never look back
Victorinox is the above and beyond the best quality, but you will pay a hefty price for it. But hey, buy once, cry once. I got a Spirit MX and I’ll never need another multi-tool. It will outlive me.
My current are Sog power lock EOD b63n-cp, Leatherman charge+TTI, and Leatherman Surge, and I’ve owned several others over the years as well. The surge is my edc, the charge is my swap out for edc, the Sog is in the glove box of my truck.
If I may go off piste for a moment. In my view the Nextool Flagship Pro is the best, certainly for me. Every tool is accessible from outside. Pliers are sprung. Exceptionally good full size scissors. Locking super-sharp Knife and saw.
Love my Surge, I have wide hands so the Wave is a little shorter than I like. Leatherman is my favorite all day long.
It’s simple- Victorinox… Victorinox has one big problem, I always can’t choose what to take today: my Victorinox Swisstool or my Victorinox Swisschamp.. Both are great and sometimes you have to take them both
The Leatherman Charge is my go-to at home (and I have a couple of the Wave models as well) while the Victorinox Spirit is the "away from home" choice. Both makes are first rate in construction and quality. My first Swiss Army Knife was a Swiss Champ and purchased nearly 40 years ago. It was recently refurbished by Victorinox and looks like the day I bought it.
Hey dca most serious question what do you think would Santa carry as his edc?
I have Leatherman, SOG and Swiss Army multi tools. I have no clear favorite.
Had a SOG as an Army Engineer, still using it. Bit knocked around but it has proven itself multiple times .
Should have showed the Leatherman Signal. It’s interesting. I have one & a Rebar. I usually EDC a Gerber MP600. I keep my Leathermans at home or in a pack.
My biggest issue with the gerber center drive. Is that the pliers can’t hold a flat piece of metal securely. It can always slip out.
I think the Gerber MP series has the best grip for when you have to bear down
5:05 just ever so casually reverse grip butterfly flips that Leatherman Free open…
i prefer the victorinox by a mile
Tip broke off leatherman wave trying to remove blank firing adapter from M4. Mind you, probably my fault, but still turned me off them…
I used my leatherman oht for a few years, but recently bought a charge titanium and carry that now. I also bought an old sog paratool at a garage sale and have carried that a few times.
I find my swiss tool fufils everything i need in a work environment and performs all the functions i need and all these well.
Victorinox a tank ❤❤the rest junk tool
Thank you very much for the spoiler alert up front. Saved me a lot of time.
The Victorinox MX clip is outstanding, and it’s so much narrower than the others!
I’ve learned over the years reviews and all that don’t matter for MT’s.. you gotta just buy and try til you find the one that works.. I HATED the Getber Diesel.. but plenty love it. I LOVE my Leatherman PST.. does everything I need and is tiny and dense.. and symetrical which is important to me.
The PST is the best bet, I have a 1995.
I have a Leatherman Free P4 and Gerber MP600. I love the Leatherman and being able to get to all tools with one hand and put it away. I work in the Utilities Field (Telecom, Electric and Natural Gas) and use it often. It is my EDC. The Gerber is a backup if the P4 is temporarily misplaced. Much better price point on the Gerber tools
